New Review: ‘Dead Silence’
Our take on this Friday’s hot new horror relase.
Zombtastic evening at Bloor Cinema - Fido
“Fido”, the boy-and-his-dog zombedy, is hitting Canadian Theatres today, March 16, 2007, but Bloor Cinema in Toronto had a special event last night (tonight I guess, only 1 am), and a couple 100 zombie fans got to quench their thirst first. So it was zombtastic and dorktastic, with people dressed up as zombies and some guy from Facebook doing a little dance on stage… (I thought “Thriller”)Â
Fido was a great movie, with Lassie references that will make you laugh, and that “crazy, wonderful zombiea€ played by Billy Connolly. Andrew Currie’s Fido is a cross between genres, a sort of family movie à la 50s that failed to be, you know, because of all the zombies… and the zombie killing… and the platonic love between Fido and Timmy’s (K’Sun Ray) mother (Carrie-Ann Moss), which provide some of the best comedic moments of the movie.Â
In short, this movie is zomedy galore at it’s best. Bit of gore, lots of comedy, and if you think you heard me say that this movie will probably end up with a following, I can confirm: you heard me right.
Fido Hits Canadian theaters today, March 16, and will hit U.S. theaters June 15. » original news
Rose McGowan - Scream, Phantoms, Charmed
Though she’d been on the public radar ever since starring in the excellent The Doom Generation, and though that movie was bathed in buckets of blood, it was not technically a horror movie. So it wasn’t until Rose McGowan stole the show with her highly memorable automatic garage door opener death scene that she […]

28 Weeks Later Teaser
Six months after the virus swept through the British Isles, the plague is reignited. 28 weeks later, the sequel to one of my favorites 28 days later, stars Rose Byrne (Scarlet), Jeremy Renner (Sgt. Doyle), Harold Perrineau (Flynn), Catherine McCormack (Alice), Mackintosh Muggleton (Andy), Idris Elba (General Stone) and Imogen Poots (Tammy).
The full-length trailer will be released in theaters March 23 with The Hills have Eyes 2.
Follow the link to Fox Atomic to watch the 28 Weeks Later teaser. Can’t wait for that one.

See “Stash”
An independent horror movie called a€œStasha€ has just released a trailer on the Internet. Written and directed by Jacob Ennis, the movie is about two young men that break into a Kentucky rednecka€™s house to steal his supply of weed only to be caught by the big bearded madman. The redneck agrees to not kill the burglars if they agree to bring three women back to his run-down house in the middle of nowhere, no questions asked. The trailer makes the film look like a cross between a€œDeliverancea€, a€œSawa€ and a€œThe Texas Chainsaw Massacrea€ and therea€™s plenty of creepy stuff to see. Dona€™t watch it with the lights out! » original news
Full Cabin Fever 2 Cast List
The Bloody Disgusting website has been sent the complete casting list for “Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever”. The sequel to Eli Roth’s “Cabin Fever” starts filming this spring under the direction of Ti West. Two of the stars for the new “Cabin Fever” starred in the first movie and they are Rider Strong and Guiseppe Andrews, while the rest of the cast include Noah Segan (Brick), Rusty Kelley, Alexi Wasser, Marc Senter (The Lost), Mark Borchardt (American Movie), Judah Friedlander (Meet the Parents) and Larry Fessenden. The director also told the website that the new movie won’t copy the original and it has nothing to do with having any spring break fun. No kidding! » original news
Martin - by George Romero
An often overlooked classic, George Romero’s Martin is still the epitome of the “is he or isn’t he really a vampire?” movies (such as Habit and Vampire’s Kiss). The movie constantly walks the line between both possibilities and keeps you guessing, presenting just enough evidence to support both charges but never enough to convict […]
Mutant Massacre - The Hills have eyes
A surprinsingly fun game found after reading lovehurts post. FoxAtomic really came through and delivered with this game, it’s challenging and really keeps you on the edge. Fire with the spacebar and reload with R. And like the intro says: “Shoot to kill”. They have a tendency to sneak up on the left and the right, and they WILL get you if you don’t spot them in time. Once they get close enough… you are done…
As a reminder, Hills have eyes 2, which is directed by Wes Craven and stars Jessica Stroup, Reshad Strik, Michael McMillian, Daniella Alonso, Lee Thompson Young, Ben Crowley, Eric Edelstein, Michael Bailey Smith, will be hitting theaters March 23.

Nocturnals - by Dan Brereton
Mixing gumshoe pulp noir with Lovecraftian horror themes to create his own fantastic alternate universe, Dan Brereton’s Nocturnals graphic novels have set their own unique bar for style. Created, written, and illustrated single-handedly by Brereton, each of his moody hand-painted panels drips with classic horror mixed with gun-toting gangster retro. This single man […]
Hobo With a Shotgun wins prize at SXSW faux-trailer contest
Hobo with a shotgun has been declared the winner of the Austin SXSW Faux-Trailer contest. Robert Rodriguez, of the upcoming Grindhouse, has declared Hobo with a shotgun the winner. So one of my favs won, and it seems the Trailer Park Boys were involved in this one. I heard this a while back but couldn’t figure out in what capacity. Well, at least I know what Bubbles is up to. Check at 1:44. Yup, that’s seems to be him alright, doing some dental work. Still don’t know what roles Ricky and Julian are playing, but meh, not a big Trailer Park Boys fan anyway.
Other winners were The Dead won’t die and Maiden of Death. I like Maiden of Death, and it wasn’t on my list (http://www.bloodee.com/HorrorClips/Hobo-with-ShotGun/).

‘Chasse gardée’ - French Zombies on the way
A new French independent short horror movie is on it’s way. Shot in Grenoble and other cities of the Isère and Ardèche regions in France, the movie tells the story of a survivor trying to live a normal life after an epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has wiped out human life on earth and turned men and women into zombies. Killing zombies becomes the protagonist’s everyday routine until he sees his former love. She has changed quite a bit, but noone is perfect.
According to the website, ‘Chasse gardée’ is inspired by the Eat your heart out comic book by Kelley Jones, and attemps to mix horror with dark humor. The movie is shot in black and white and is only the second French zombie movie if I am not mistaken (if you factor Les Revenants, then it’s the third French flick of this kind). Check out the teaser. For those of you who like the slow almost disarticulated zombies, this is for you.
THE EVERYDAY HORRORS Part 1
It’s almost game time and you realize you don’t have enough snacks to last through halftime. It happens every weekend and you jump in the car to get to the neighborhood quicky mart to stock up.
Do you realize you have just entered the Everyday Horror zone.
It’s just the ‘burbs and you drive this route a dozen times a week so your attention might be more on who’s going to win…
Then “WHAM” you weren’t going THAT fast, were you?
Yes, there are reasons for speed limits on the road. They may not keep it safe (because what IS safe about a ton of metal and plastic traveling at 44 feet per second?*) but if you keep it in the limits you might at least see what you hit.
