The Mario Bava Collection – Review

The cases for the five-disc set are lovingly adorned with multiple international posters and lobby cards for the five films and further encased in a beautiful slip cover featuring a striking image of Bava on the spine. “Black Sunday” (1960), “Black Sabbath” (1963), “The Girl Who Knew Too Much” (1963), “Knives of the Avenger” (1966), and “Kill, Baby…Kill!” (1966) are all films that would be at the top of any Bava fan’s wish list and are a great example of the diverse genres Bava handled expertly…

As ridiculous as I SCREAM MAN sounds, it is shaping up to be quote the ensemble horror flick. Crispin Glover (WILLARD) is set to star as the titular “I Scream Man” and if that don’t float your boat, then how about George Romero as bartender Earl at Carpenter’s Tavern?

If you were a detective on the case, and you saw a ghoul start talking to you like the crazy flower lady on the bus, what would you do? Drink is my first guess, and that’s exactly what Cal McDonald did. Add werewolves, vampires, and golems to the mix, and you got yourself an alcoholic. Definitely gives “beer goggles” a new meaning!

Brain Hammer’s Picks From the Crypt 2: The Films of Bob Clark

In honor of Bob Clark, this week’s PICKS FROM THE CRYPT are the three films that comprise Bob Clark’s “horror trilogy”. Well not really a trilogy, but three of the all time great horror flicks in my opinion. All three are unique and extremely well made. Watching these superior flicks, it’s hard to believe this is the same director that later in his career offered up dung like “Baby Geniuses” to an unsuspecting, yet completely deserving world!
