Masters of Horror Season One Box Set

The Masters of Horror Season One Box Set design has been released. It appears to be a crypt and my guess is that you simply open the top to take out the DVD cases. Not much more has been shown or announced, but you can expect to see this released by Anchor Bay on August 28th.

Il Bosco Fuori aka The Last House in the Woods (2007)

When on-off lovers Aurora & Rino are attacked by thugs in the woods, they are rescued by older couple Antonio & Clara. But when they head back to the last house in the woods, they find out that they just stepped further into trouble. And as if things couldn’t get worse, the thugs show up at the property to take back their spoils…

Christopher Lee cut from Sweeney Todd

While the story of Sweeney Todd may or may not be based on true events, one thing is for sure- that the ghosts referenced in Tim Burton’s script have never been a part of the legend. Burton had received some flack by tried and true Todd fans who complained about Burton’s inclusion of these made up ghosts…

Dead Silence

You scream. You die.

The young and happily married couple, Jamie & Lisa Ashen, are enjoying a nice relaxing evening at home that is, until they discover an unmarked mysterious package on their doorstep. They open the box to reveal a creepy looking ventriloquists dummy. The couple is instantly reminded of an old legend from their hometown of Raven's Fair:

Beware the stare of Mary Shaw.
She had no children, only dolls.
If you see her in your dream,
Please be sure not to scream.

Thinking nothing of it, Jamie ventures out to grab some dinner for he and Lisa, only to return home and find his wife brutally murdered. Oh, did I mention the doll is out of its package now? After alerting the authorities, Jamie is made aware that he is the number one suspect in his wifes murder, not the doll (go figure).

Night Junkies

What if blood was an addiction?

Set in the winding streets and dark alleyways of riverside London, the story centers on Ruby and Vincent. Ruby works as a lap dancer whose "pimp" is intent on promoting her as a call girl. Vincent was bitten by a femme fatale In a dark alleyway, and after weeks of battling with his condition, he has finally give in to his addiction: blood. Vincent had become a vampire!

Made for under $100,000, the production value is exceptionally good. Since the movie was low budget, you might expect typical low-budget acting, but surprisingly the actors did a really good job. The dialogue is very Tarantino-esque and his influence is obvious as well. Not that this is a bad thing, some of the dialogue is fantastic and this movie offers some decent quotables.

Stage Fright

The theatre of death.

Our movie starts with a prostitute smoking a cigarette and looking bored. Suddenly two hands come out of a darkened doorway to grab her by the throat. She screams and is gone. Then in the first time in history a bunch of people run to aid a dying hooker. But wait, then, THEN my friends a man wearing a giant owl mask dives from the doorway and begins to dance, DANCE! This aint no murder! Its a super hip play! Oh my god, the music! The dancing! This movie is AWESOME!

Alright, once the opening number is over we settle down to business. One of the dancers hurts her ankle so the wardrobe girl takes her up to the local mental institution (naturally) to find a doctor. While there a serial killer escapes and hitches a ride to the theatre in their station wagon. Once the first body is found the cops show up and the movie is over. Oh wait, never mind. The director realizes he can made a mint if he opens his show early to capitalize on the death that just occurred so he makes the main dancers all stay through the night to practice. Dun dun dun! Ok, so obviously the killer is there too.

Hostel 2 NEW Crazy Pictures!

Hostel 2 mania is heating up. I just can’t wait until Royce sends me his article on why Eli Roth is a gay-sexual. It should be interesting. Anyway if you head on over to the German site BlairWitch.de you can see some wonderfully distubing NEW pictures of the girls of Hostel 2. I stole one for you which you can see below, but trust me that is just a teaser.

May Comic Book Roundup - Marvel Zombies/Buffy/City of Others

After what will probably be one of the most memorable cliffhangers in horror comics history, (heck, maybe even the entire damn medium!) Howard the Duck, zombiefied and hungry, seemingly kills off our king, Ash, by eating his brain at the end of the issue two…

Stupid Teenagers Must Die! (2007)

Filmed on what seems to be a camcorder, the only way STUPID TEENAGERS MUST DIE! could get more low-tech is if it was a cave-painting. But it has some heart to it. It looks like everyone involved had a lot of fun and they gave it their all. It has that grubby, homemade charm that Hollywood wants to stamp out really, really bad.

Doomsday and The Descent 2

Neil Marshall talked about the upcoming DOOMSDAY and said the plot was hard to describe. He mentioned a wall built to divide Scotland from the rest of the UK, where the Scots are left to fight off a virus.

Blood Freak - Multiplex Massacre - Music Review

“Nobody wanted to listen when we said this was for real, sold our souls to horror and then sealed the deal. You laughed in our faces and really pissed us off. Now BLOOD FREAK is still killing while you die weak and soft…”

‘Mother of Tears’ Has a Premiere Date

Horror Guy’s Review of 28 Weeks Later (Possible Spoilers!)

As Cridafer so eloquently put it as we walked out of seeing 28 Weeks Later, “The moral of that story was, ‘kill the kids first’.”

After reading Fox Atomic Comic’s 28 Days Later: The Aftermath, I was really amped up to see the sequel to the outRAGEously fantastic 28 Days Later, but came out feeling a little let down. It’s not that it was bad or even unenjoyable; it just felt like the middle chapter of a story. It just doesn’t seem to stand well on it’s own other than to be viewed as somewhat of a remake of the first film. It opens with a great ‘meanwhile…’ scene that takes place during the beginning of the events of the first film, then quickly moves thru, past and then 28 weeks beyond the end of the original 28 Days Later. Parts of Britain are now being repopulated with former residents that had been safely evacuated during the original epidemic, but only in so-called ’safe zones’ that, of course, turn out not to be so safe after all. A couple of youngsters that lost their mother in the original outbreak find reason to sneak out of the safe zone and return to their pre-infection home and that’s when all sorts of hilarity ensues. This whole second round of the rage virus outbreak would not have happened if a couple of snot-nosed brats would have listened to what they were told and stayed inside the safe zone. But then, I guess that would not have made for a very interesting flick. All in all, it was worth seeing but it did have it’s flaws. The uber-fast editing got really old, really quick as it gave this horror fan a headache just trying to focus on what was happening on the screen during just about every rage-zombie attack. Even tho we caught this one at the fabulous, made for movie fans Cinetopia Theater in Vancouver, WA, I really felt that I could have caught this at home on DVD or a HD movie channel and nothing would have been lost in the experience.
