AZU-1: Lifehack

Regan's a young lady with the usual problems. She's had a messy breakup, is unemployed in a new town, living with her brother, and is in love with a lady who happens to be straight.

She's also got to contend with a legion of walking corpses.

The zombie threat happens pretty early on in the book and it's hinted that it's much worse than when we are introduced to it, since the police department has a message telling you not to go near "untalkative assailants." The story follows two primary characters – Regan and Alisia. Regan came to Autar to live with her scientist brother, and Alisia is the head, and only living member left, of the AIT (Autar Inflitration Troup). When Alisia's newest partner gets killed she meets up with Regan, who has been surviving in the city for two years on her own.

Heat-Shaped Box = Book-Shaped Thrills

When I first learned that relative new kid on the horror block Joe Hill is the eldest son of the legendary Stephen King, I hoped that his debut novel Heart-Shaped Box would be at least as good as his dad’s stuff. I can safely say that it screamed at the top of its literary lungs as it blew past any expectations I had and set a new standard for what I want in a scary story.
Clocking in at 384 pages, HSB is a lean, mean story that opens with a simple premise; a ghost for sale on the Internet is purchased by aging rock star Judas Coyne, a collector of all things macabre. As happens all to often in tales such as this, Coyne finds that he has purchased way more than he bargained for…..but maybe not more than he deserves. What follows is a non-stop thriller of a story that I literally had trouble putting down until I got to the (very satisfying) end.
Heart-Shaped Box  is cinematic to the point that I found myself musing over how easily this could be directly adapted to the big screen, so it came as no surprise to learn that Warner Bros. has recently picked up the movie rights. I have my reservations, tho; too many recent book-to-screen adaptations have ended up gutting the source material to the point that the story is unrecognizable. Here’s hoping the Warners do it justice.

Paris Hilton to Star in REPO!

REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA is set to begin its six week production in Toronto starting Sept. 10th and Paris Hilton is joining the cast. Paris will play Paul Sorvino’s daughter and supposedly “owned the role” when auditioned against 30 other women. (Were these women even actresses?) Paris will be singing and dancing with the rest of the cast.

BIT PARTS (200?) – Movie Review

Anyway, disgraced plastic surgeon Dr. Cranston (Christopher Page) gets into a car accident that disfigures his daughter Maggie (Michelle Angel). So he goes all nutty-nuts and starts holding auditions for actresses in LA, abducting the ones with the right nose/lips/boobs/what-have-you and does a little creative surgery on them to get his daughter back to her former glory.

I Know Who Killed Me (2007) – Review

Have you ever walked out of a bad movie and instead of being deadened or saddened or angered, you were actually impressed? Walking out and saying to your friends “WOW! That REALLY, REALLY SUCKED!” In these moments of tear-down reverie, one could actually get more animated and impassioned than had one seen their new favorite film.
