35th Anniversary DVD of ‘Stanley’

This killer snake movie released in the wake of the success of “Willard” enjoyed some airtime on TV in the ’70s before descending into obscurity. It’s actually a damn good horror movie.

Oh look, it’s another group of hot teens in yet another haunted/possessed house! And check it out, the group dynamics are the same as every other movie; a sensible couple, a jock, a whore, a stoner and a nerdy guy! This has GOT to be good.

Black Sheep

There are 40 million sheep in New Zealand… and they're pissed off!

After a traumatic prank from his childhood, Henry has developed Ovinophobia (fear of sheep.) He returns to his family farm fifteen years after the incident to sell his share of the land to his older brother. One the day of his return, two animal rights activists break into the laboratory on the farm and obtain physical evidence of genetic tampering in the form of a mutated sheep fetus in a large glass tube. During his escape, the glass tube breaks and the mutated fetus gets out and bites the activist. Later on the fetus bites an adult sheep and trouble follows from there.

I recently got this movie and I'm glad I did. The filmmakers really knew what they were doing and get into the carnage pretty quickly. This is Jonathon King's first movie and I'd like to see where he goes. As a first effort this was done really well and it deserves a lot of praise.

Oxford University Press Releases Original Sweeney Todd

Not something we would probably normally cover, but their PR called us “one of the premier Horror sites on the internet,” they really know how to butter a guy up. However some of you may be interested in knowing that Oxford University Press has recently published the original tale of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Automaton Transfusion on DVD

This is the little zombie flick that could, and it should of made part 3 of our Year in Review: The Best Alternative, Overlooked and Unappreciated Horror Films of 2007, but unfortunately I was only able to see it in pieces at San Francisco’s Another Hole in the Head film festival, and what I saw looked good. It has also managed to receive a lot of buzz from the horror community.

Death Race 3000

Horror-Movies.ca just published the first picture of Death Race, Universal’s remake of the 1975 classic Death Race 2000 which starred Sylvester Stallone. The synopsis (read below) sounds way different than the original but at least they included the driver Frankenstein. I hope they do not leave out Machine Gun Joe Viterbo, Calamity Jane and the nudity from the first.Unfortunately it seems they may have left out the best part, killing citizens for points to win the race. This better be a kick-ass film if they want to makeup for that little faux pas.

Lonely Joe Features Our Favorite Ass

Emmemax Films sent us information about two of their upcoming films The Mirrors of Longreach Mansion and Lonely Joe, a supernatural thriller based on true events that took place in South Texas about 20 years ago. If you head on over to the Lonely Joe website here and scroll down, you will notice Matthew S. Harrison aka Matthew Pletcher who was awarded our “Biggest Dick of 2007″ honors (Read Here. Matthew is the “producer” of Death Walks the Streets and has threatened to sue Horror Yearbook and have me arrested (Read Here). I feel bad that he has left his stink on Emmemax’s movie.

Reflecting on the Worst Movie of the Year

Just how bad is “Alien vs. Predator: Requiem”. Let’s just say it makes “Halloween Resurrection” look like a masterpiece.
