Zombie Friends & Other Pieces, 12/20/2007
Splitting my time between the wonderfully hair-raising horror that is
the holiday season and trying to stay on top of things at the Day Job
has dominated far too much of my personal blogging time. Let’s catch up
by sharing a few pieces…
…just stumbled across a great new social networking site for fans of all things fun and terrifying — ZombieFriends.com. Check out the ZFriends profile of yours truly then sign up for a free membership and be my friend, why don’cha?
…Sir
Ian over at ICED Media was kind enough to point out a feature currently
running over at MAXIM.com. Yeah, I know…MAXIM is not really the kind
of place one would expect to find anything horror-related, but check out their feature “10 Best Horror Movie Deaths” and see if you agree with their line-up. You actually get to see video clips of each death from the original movies.
…Sam Raimi is returning to horror!!! Army of Darkness and The Gift fans can look forward to Drag Me to Hell.
…Prom Night is one of the latest fright film classics to go under the remake knife. The movie poster looks pretty cool, I guess. It hits theaters this Spring but I’ve been burned by so many senseless remakes lately, I’m kinda hesitate to drop my hard earned cash on another re-hashed bomb. What do you think?

Sam Raimi Returns to Horror With Drag Me To Hell
Sam Raimi is making a return to the genre that started his career, directing a new film called Drag me to Hell based off a script him and his brother wrote way back in the early 1990s.
Host 2 Coming in 2009?
According to Cinefantastiqueonline.com there is a Host 2 planned for 2009. “The full plot is not yet known, but Choi [Yong-bae, producer] did spill some beans— that the story is set in 2003 and takes place ’somewhere in Korea.’ One interesting thing of note is that the events of the original film took place in the summer of 2006.”
‘Host 2′ in the Works for ‘09
You can’t keep a good Korean monster down.
Raimi to Direct Horror Again
Sam Raimi will return to his genre roots to direct ‘Drag Me to Hell,’ a supernatural thriller he wrote with his brother, Ivan Raimi.

Alice in Wonderland
Tim Burtona€™s directing a film adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. Alice is the first book I ever read to myself and Ia€™ve never fallen out of love with it. The Burton adaptation will feature live action and animation a€” though it probably wona€™t be half as weird as this Czech surrealist adaptation featuring taxidermied animal skeletons in stop-motion animation. » original news

Sweeney Todd Official Movie Site - Sweeney Todd trailer
When I first read about the Sweeney Todd Movie, I immediately remember a Discover article I read a few years back. The science magazine had an article on various serial killers, including the story about a barber and his baker girlfriend killing clients and then cooking them and feeding them to the masses in the processed shape of a paté. Reading the wikipedia page on Sweeney Todd, the consensus there seems to be that the Sweeney Todd character is fictional. So… let’s assume that it may not be real horror, but its still a great idea for a movie.
Directed by Tim Burton, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street stars Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd, Helena Bonham Carter as Sweeney’s evil chick Mrs. Lovett, Alan Rickman as Judge Turpin and Sacha Baron Cohen as Signor Adolfo Pirelli. The movie is an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical thriller "Sweeney Todd. To be honest, I am not too sure about the horror musical thing, but there is no doubt in my mind that the blood splattering and the rarely-miss-an-opportunity-to-be-part-of-a-great-project cast and director will make this a bloody superb movie… or at least, an entertaining one.
It hits theatres December 21, and I will be there ![]()
In the meantime, follow the link to the Sweeney Todd website for the trailer and others cool features, such as "Meatpie Ecards" and a "Cut you own trailer" feature. See the Sweeney Todd Clips I cut below: Priest, Contest, Epiphany.
