REVIEW: Fright Flick
Fright Flick. La Luna Entertainment (www.lalunaentertainment.com). By Brian Kirst
While the original Friday the 13th was considered a low budget, quickly shot feature, it actually stuns the mind that the recently shot Fright Flick (which pays direct homage to the Friday the 13th series) was probably done with a third of that seminal fright fest’s budget and production time. This is especially revelatory because Fright Flick is such a twisted, enjoyably bloody good time.
Fright Flick, which received its debut screening at…
A Plan 9 Re-Make
Well here is something that you dont hear everyday…”the remake will be a serious-minded retelling of the original story, paying homage to the spirit of Wood’s film without resorting to camp or parody.” – John Johnson
That is from the director of the new remake of the old Ed Wood Classic. Plan 9 is one of the shitty-ist movies ever made, and it should stay that way!
Im sure he has the best of intentions with the new film, but some thing…

Desolation 2 – Flash Horror Online Game
This is the Desolation Sequel. The Desolation 2 online horror game brings you into an enhanced version of the original Desolation. Desolation: The Bunker of Fear delivers the same creepy atmosphere, but with much better graphics. The downsides: still not very challenging (and if it is for you, you can click on the Desolation walktrough link right on the top of your screen) and too short. Use your mouse to walk from one room to the next and left click to attack.

John Pata: Whiskey, the Howling and Living Among the Dead By Brian Kirst
There are a lot of things that drinking can induce – blackouts, hangovers, homicide.
Luckily for us, John Pata’s robust binges brought about the zombie indie short “Better Off Undead”. This initial limb wrenching project was inspired by Pata and friends sitting around drinking whiskey, watching zombie movies and thinking – “I wanna do that!”
As a result, the fun project about 3 friends experiencing a sudden zombified invasion in…

Adrienne King: Walking the Distance
Adrienne King: Walking the Distance with the Original Final Girl. By Brian Kirst
Long before she graced theatre screens as one of the “first females to kick ass in horror films”, Friday the 13th superstar Adrienne King was breaking the glass ceiling in her local high school in Long Island. In the early 1970’s, King was not only a talented artist, but also “the first girl to wear pants in my school” and “the first female to enroll in auto mechanics”.…

Hammer Films has begun shooting in Donegal on its first production in almost 30 years – a horror thriller entitled The Wake Wood.
The film – about a couple who try to resurrect their dead daughter – stars Timothy Spall and Aiden Gillen.
It is the first feature from the cult British company since it was bought last year by a Dutch consortium.
Hammer became synonymous with the horror genre in the 1950s thanks to films like Dracula and The Mummy.
Other famous Hammer…
Big Bad Wolf
Big Bad Wolf is an over-the-top, balls-to-the-wall werewolf movie with a very biting wit. It must be seen to be be believed. And even then I had a hard time believing what I’d just seen!
While the setup is pretty run-of-the-mill, (a group of kids go party in the woods despite the creepy gas [...]

Baghead
“Baghead” is the best of the shaky-cam spawn of “The Blair Witch Project.” Yes, it’s another low-budget indie horror movie about making an indie horror movie. But this one, from the Duplass brothers, who did the daft road trip comedy “The Puffy Chair,” takes the time to construct characters and relationships before tossing its four would-be actors into turmoil.
This bunch — Chad (Steve Zissis), his pal Matt (Ross Partridge), Matt’s on-off girlfriend Catherine (Elise Muller) and Michelle (Greta Gerwig), the…
Linda Blair: Genre Legend
Linda Blair: Genre Legend, Possessed Activist and a World Heart. By Brian Kirst
“I didn’t know what I was doing.” So says Linda Blair about her Academy Award nominated performance of the possessed and physically violent Regan in The Exorcist. “I was 13. I didn’t understand what was going on. I just have this intense look – even as a kid – and they utilized it.”
In fact, years later while filming The Exorcist spoof Repossessed, Blair knew the way she was…
Rotten Jack’s Creep Show
The convention pickings have been slim for Buffalo horror flick fans, who have had to travel two hours—to attend either the Eerie Horror Film Festival in Pennsylvania or the FanExpo Canada in Toronto—to get their fill of B-film celebrities and merchandise. Last year, Tom Kowalski, the proprietor of Rotten Jack’s Creep Shack, a Halloween and horror “boo-tique” located on Transit Road in Depew, stepped up to the plate to host Rotten Jack’s Creep Show, an all-night celebration of horror entertainment,…
