Carolyn Jones as Morticia Addams

One of the very first crushes I ever had was Morticia Addams on the original black and white 1960′s Addams Family TV show. It was before I was even started pre-school. I remember that the first time I ever saw her I was almost afraid to look at her… not because she was scary, but because she was so gorgeous that she stirred strong and confusing feelings that had been hitherto unfelt. It freaked me out a little bit. Which was great.

Anjelica Huston is a beautiful woman and did a frighteningly good job portraying Morticia in 1991′s “Addams Family“. When this movie came out, I was a young man with raging hormones and a burning love for dark and evil ladies. Surprisingly, despite this, I was not really attracted to her version of Morticia. I reminisced back to the original version played by Carolyn Jones and realized there would never be another like her.

Daryl Hannah took on Morticia’s role in “Addams Family Reunion”, and although I love Daryl and I’m glad she took on the role, again I couldn’t help but compare her portrayal of Morticia to Carolyn’s and find it less “arousing”. Ahem. It seems clear that the real beauty (and sexiness) Morticia Addams has came from Carolyn Jones… who, as I’m sure Thing would agree, is HANDS DOWN the hottest horror babe ever to play Morticia Addams.
