Hellboy: The Crooked Man #1
The horror comic world is buzzing with the news of the new Hellboy series that will feature the artwork of living god Richard Corben! Here’s the official synopsis:
In 1956, somewhere in the mountains of West Virginia, Hellboy encounters Tom, a man who in his youth sold his soul to a backwoods demon known as the Crooked Man. Together they travel back into the dark heart of the Appalachian mountains to confront that demon and see if Tom’s soul can’t be saved.
The three-issue series reunites Mignola and legendary horror artist Richard Corben (The Bodyssey, Banner, Punisher: The End, Hellboy: Makoma) in a tale of witchcraft rooted in Appalachian folklore.
I admit that I am fairly Appalachian-folklore-retarded. I have no idea what this is going to be like. And that makes me even more excited for it! Here’s hoping the upcoming Hellboy 2 movie does the title justice. Any way it goes, I’m excited to see Johann Kraus on the big screen, I’m a huge fan of the ectoplasmic spirit channeler. Shoot, it’s Mike Mignola and Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman and Selma Blair, what can go wrong?
