Feast (Unrated Version)
Some horror movies try to be scary and instead end up campy. Some horror movies try to be campy and instead end up crappy. But a few horror movies manage to strike just the right balance between frightful scares and tongue-in-cheek camp humor to deliver an unforgettable experience. And perhaps no other recent horror movie succeeded better at doing this than Feast.
With star power like Jason Mewes (”Jay” of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks
, and Clerks 2
) and fat-necked rock icon Henry Rollins
to bring a lot of class and a huge helping of cheese, Feast is able to pull off humor as easily as it pulls off horror. Its as in-your-face as horror movies get, with tension that never lets up and plenty of gratuitous gore for all the blood lovers out there. If you saw Feast in the theater than you already know this. But did you see the unrated version on DVD? Some unrated version DVDs do nothing more than simply add some boring non-violent non-sexual footage that was cut from the theatrical release for good reason. But not the Feast unrated version DVD. The footage included in this version was cut from the theatrical release because it pushed Feast into NC-17 territory! There is one scene in particular on the unrated DVD that shocked me with its brutality and sexual explicitness. And I don’t shock easy. It was disgusting, it was terrifying, it was violating, and it was hilarious, all at once! I must have rewound and watched it at least ten times, I simply couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. I wondered how they got away with it, even in the unrated version. When you watch it you’ll know what I’m talking about.
This movie is balls-out, no-holds-barred mayhem and it goes straight for the jugular. Feast is a visceral thrill-ride full of twists and turns and ups and downs, making you laugh and making you scream with equal ease. Its totally hip hardcore for the thinking horror fan who has a smart sense of humor and a craving for carnage. This is one monster movie not to be missed.
Below are two trailers for the movie, they are both different and totally awesome, I couldn’t pick a favorite.
