George Romero to Make Sequel to DIARY OF THE DEAD?

And you guys thought it wouldn’t do well….George Romero’s TIFF premiere of DIARY OF THE DEAD apparently drove the audience nuts, caused a bidding war, and could spawn a sequel.

DIARY will get a theatrical release and if it does well, which it should (Yes fans, I am talking to YOU), Romero will be contracted to write a sequel that will start where DIARY last left off. Romero tells B-D that he doesn’t have any immediate plans to continue the franchise and would like to start other projects like SEASON OF THE WITCH. Which means the fans will decide if we get more zombies or not.

The outcome will be interesting. Some fans say they hated HOSTEL, yet Eli Roth went on to make HOSTEL II and earned a profit. Most fans ripped apart Rob Zombie and yet HALLOWEEN easily topped $30 million. So what now for Romero? People say he is a legend and a favorite, so I guess that will somehow translate into a poor reception for this good ole boy.
